Thomas L. Ahearn, 77, husband of Mary (Frederick) Ahearn, passed away Thursday, January 18, in Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital.
Tom was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Edward and Catherine (Foley) Ahearn, and was a January 1959 graduate of the prestigious Lane Technical High School of Chicago.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963, Tom became a longtime resident of Pennsylvania, living in East Coventry township for many years before a recent move to South Coventry.
An employee of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for many years, Tom retired from the Hamburg Center in 2002.
Tom enjoyed sports, most especially the Philadelphia Flyers. He loved nature, feeding birds, music, and was a self-taught guitar player.
In addition to his loving wife of 39 years, he is survived by his three sons, Brian (Sharon), Matthew (Nicolle), and James (Anny). He is survived by one brother, John “Jack” Ahearn; six grandchildren, Brianna, Brittany, Emma, Matthew, Charles, and Brenna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by a brother, Edward “Jim” Ahearn (Elenora) and a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Weaver.
A private interment of ashes and a gathering of family and close friends in celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Fund of the Chester County Community Foundation.
