Helen G. Giera, 86, Spring City Helen G. Giera, Spring City, peacefully passed away early Sunday morning May 1, 2016 at home with her family by her side. Born in Phoenixville to the late, John and Julia (Benyo) Mendrey, Helen was one of 9 children. A 1947 graduate of Spring City High School, Helen worked for Spring City Knitting Co. and Dettra Flag Co. You would see her most recently as an employee of Spring City, WAWA where she greeted you as you got your coffee. Her hobbies included playing Five Hundred Rummy, Jigsaw Puzzles, Bingo and Watching Games Shows. Helen enjoyed cooking and family dinners. Helen loved her family. She is survived by four children: Theresa, wife of Jimmy Keim, Christine Morris, the wife of the late Robert Morris, Kathleen Beutler and Stanley Giera; a sister: Elizabeth Karkosak; Ten Grandchildren, Twelve Great Grandchildren, one Great-Great Grand-daughter to be born in September and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and her 3 sisters: Josephine, Caroline, and Margaret and 4 brothers: John, Edward, Robert and Steven. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday evening, May 5, 2016 at the Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral home, 135 Bridge St. Spring City, PA 19475 from 6PM - 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Joseph's Church 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, PA 19475, at 11 AM with a viewing from 9:45 AM- 10:45 AM at the church. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Phoenixville immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Season's Hospice, 700 S. Henderson Rd. #225, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
