Edna Marie Black, 89, of Royersford
Edna Marie Black, 89, beloved wife of the late Samuel Black, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Parkhouse at Providence Point.
Born January 8, 1937, in Boyertown, she was one of thirteen children of the late Clarence and Edna (Myers) Moyer. Marie, affectionately known as “Granny Black” spent most of her life in the Spring City area. The ultimate homemaker, she and Samuel lovingly raised three children. Her family, especially her children and grandchildren, were her prized possessions. She enjoyed caring for them, which often included cooking and baking, and she was especially known for her shoofly pies. Marie also enjoyed working on puzzles in her spare time.
Marie is survived by her three children: Richard Black, Andrew Black, and David Black (Jane); two grandchildren: David Black, Jr. (Tiffany) and Ashley Hoffman (Billy); and five great-grandchildren: Abbey, Emily, Ryker, Bode, and Paisleigh. Two sisters: Ruth Kratz and Miriam Stefanko; a brother, Dennis Moyer. She is preceded in death by Sisters: Mary Koller, Kathryn Moyer, Grace Cook, Diane Moyer and Brothers: Clarence Moyer, Jr., Paul Moyer, Richard Moyer, Kenneth Moyer and Russell Moyer.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Spring City, on Wednesday, April 8, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, with burial immediately following at Vincent Mennonite Cemetery, Spring City, PA.
