Thomas M. Winnies


Tom Winnies was born on October 4, 1944, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Edmond V. Winnies and Helen (Ondo) Winnies. Tom passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025.


Tom graduated from Spring-Ford High School with the class of 1963. He joined the United States Army in January of 1965. Tom was stationed in the Carolina’s, Georgia, California, Hawaii, Vietnam and Texas. He worked as a Personnel Specialist with the 25th Infantry Division. Tom received the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged from the Army from Ft. Hood Texas in December of 1967 as a Specialist 5th Class (E5).


Tom Worked as a Traffic Manager for Royersford Foundry and Machine Company for 40 years retiring in October of 2013.


Tom was a member of First United Church of Christ in Spring City where he served as past Consistory President and also was a part of the search committee for a new minister. 


Tom enjoyed sports, collecting baseball cards, and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy (Stetler) Winnies, one son Scott Michael Winnies and one sister, Marilyn Metcalf of Kissimmee, Florida. Also numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. 


Tom was preceded in death by his siblings: twin bother Dennis V. Winnies and sister Phyllis Ann Riehm. 


A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Eric Kern officiating at St. Vincent United Church of Christ Cemetery, 137 Ridge Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
