Phoenixville, PA

Daniel “Danny” Gnias, Sr., age 92, husband of Patricia A. (Shoemaker) Gnias of Phoenixville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening at his home.

Born and raised in Phoenixville, Danny was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Kamertz) Gnias. A proud lifelong resident, Danny graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1951, where he was a standout athlete in baseball, and basketball. A passionate sports fan from a young age, he rooted for the Chicago Bears and White Sox and later became an avid supporter of the Eagles, Phillies, Villanova, and local high school sports.

After high school, Danny began working at the Phoenix Iron Company Shop 6. He later served his country honorably in the United States Navy for two years. Following his service, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at American Inks and Coatings, where he worked for 36 years until his retirement.

Danny's love for sports continued through coaching Little League Baseball, Girls Softball, and PMYC Basketball. In his younger days, he was an active fast-pitch softball player and talented bowler.

He also volunteered for many years running Bingo at the Phoenixville Hose, Hook & Ladder Co No.1. He was an honored member recognized for his sincere inspiration and efforts in furthering the spirit and unity of all it members.

A man of deep faith, Danny was a longtime and active member of Holy Trinity Church, where he volunteered with grounds and maintenance work. He also continued running Bingo to support the Parish for more than two decades.  More recently, he was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church in Spring City, faithfully attending Mass seven days a week.

Danny is survived by his sons: David Gnias (wife Cindy Zink) and Dennis Gnias (wife Beth Vishio); his brother, Eugene Gnias (wife Ann Viola) his brother-in-law Jules Falasco(wife Rita-deceased); grandchildren: David, Dustin, Matthew, and Gabrielle(husband Conor Pretko); and great-grandchildren: Alana, Ava, Chase, and Audrina.
