Joan M. (Finkbiner) Emswiler, 86, Spring City
Joan M Emswiler, 86, passed away Wednesday July 16, 2025 in the Woodbridge Place Senior Center. She was born July 22, 1938 in Phoenixville to the late Ralph Finkbiner, Sr. and the late Florence (Wenzel) Finkbiner. A longtime member of the Spring Ford community, Joan attended and graduated in 1956 from Spring Ford High School, where her class was the first graduating class of the New Spring Ford High School. She didn’t go far from home, when she met the love of her life, Virgil. They were married in 1957. They were a match made in heaven and complimented each other well. When Virgil was the in the Navy, they were stationed in Rhode Island, but returned to raise their family in their familiar community that they loved.
Joan was a dedicated Homemaker, and kept the family running. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Joan was willing to try fun things including Camping and even riding on the back of Virgil’s motorcycle. She enjoyed painting ceramics and Nascar racing.
Joan loved her church, Zion Lutheran and attended there with her family. She was a faithful attender and generous in giving her time. She worked for 15 years as a Day Care Assistant in the Zion church daycare.
Joan leaves behind her devoted children, Beckie George (husband, the late Todd George) and Kevin Emswiler (wife, Cathy) and two grandchildren: Richard Saylor III and Kevin Emswiler, Jr. and one greatgrandchild, Riley Chase Emswiler and Sister in Law, Karen Finkbiner along with many nephews and nieces.
She is predeceased by her husband, Virgil Emswiler Jr, her parents: the Late Ralph Finkbiner, Sr. and Florence Wenzel Finkbiner and siblings: Ralph Finkbiner, Jr. and Sue Vanderslice.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bonnie Brae Road, Spring City, PA 19475 from 10-11 AM in the Muhlenberg Room. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 with Rev. Taylor Walker presiding. Burial will be immediately following in the Limerick Garden of Memories.
