Obituary of James Francis Osowski

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James Francis Osowski, 80, Evansburg, PA

February 11, 1945 – September 21, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of James Francis Osowski, 80, of Evansburg, PA. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 21, 2025.

Born February 11, 1945, James grew up in Swedesburg, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School before continuing his education at Norristown High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Czop) and Henry Osowski, along with his wife of 41 years, Shirley (Lamberg) Osowski, and grandson, Keven. In addition to his companion, Barbara Cane, James is survived by three children and six grandchildren.

A proud U.S. veteran, James served his country honorably in the Army Corps Engineers. Stationed in Germany, 17-year-old Jim contributed to World War II restoration efforts. He developed into a skilled heavy equipment operator and transporter, which aided him throughout his life.  Following his service, Jim built a career at Alan Wood Steel Company as a welder/fabricator. He then became a dedicated truck driver for Tose-Fowler. Decades later, Jim retired as a member of Teamsters Local 107 while driving for Yellow Freight Company.

James (Big Jim/Jimmy O) was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. He pursued his passion for sailing and became a captain. After retirement, he and his beloved partner, Barbara, criss-crossed the United States by RV, visiting dozens of national parks.  They enjoyed winters in Florida and many Harley motorcycle rides with friends.

James will be remembered for his strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, memorable storytelling and the love he shared with his family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 9:30–11:00 AM at R. Strunk Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment of ashes will take place immediately afterward at St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia.
