James Cornish "Jim" Smith, 93, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on November 23, 2025. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, known for his gentle nature, kindness, and compassion.
Jim was born on January 17, 1932, in Stroudsburg, PA to the late Hyacinth C. Smith and A. Nathan Smith. He graduated from Stroudsburg High School and received a BS degree from Lehigh University.
After college, Jim joined the General Electric Company’s Missile and Ordinance Department. During his 36 years with GE, he held several staff and managerial positions in the Division and Group Organizations of the Aerospace Group.
In his spare time, he served on the Board of Directors of the Valley Forge Sewer Authority for 18 years, including serving as the Chairman of the Board. He also volunteered with the Phoenixville YMCA and was recognized for his distinguished service to youth in 1976. Jim was a lifetime member and officer in several Masonic organizations, and was a 50-year member and Past High Priest of the local Royal Arch chapter 198. In recent years, he and his wife travelled extensively, both domestically and abroad, with the Phoenixville Senior Center. His other interests included playing golf, spending time with family, and relaxing at his vacation home in Ocean City, MD.
Jim is survived by his wife Harriette, with whom he celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage prior to his death. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three children: Diane L. Smith, James C. Smith, Jr, Esq., and David T. Smith, (Jodie) and six grandchildren: Harrison J. Smith, Morgan A. Smith, Jason T. Smith, Kylie E. Smith, Reese E. Smith, and Devon H. Smith
A funeral service will be held at 10AM on November 29, 2025, at the R. Strunk Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 9 AM. Interment will be private.
