Michael J. Walsh, 82, of Phoenixville

Michael J. Walsh, 82, beloved husband of Cynthia M. (Vey) Walsh, of Phoenixville and formerly of Malvern, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Born November 14, 1943, in Yonkers, NY, he was the son of the late John Walsh and Helen (Lang) Walsh. Michael graduated from Manhattan College and later earned his MBA from New York University. In 1977, he moved to Malvern, PA, where he established deep roots and built a distinguished 30-year career with Saint Gobain Corporation, ultimately serving as Vice President of Risk Management. He also served as President of the Philadelphia Treasurer’s Club, reflecting his leadership and commitment to the financial community.

Michael was a lifelong learner with a deep love of reading, especially history. He often referred to his books as his “old friends,” a reflection of the comfort and joy they brought him. A devoted family man, he cherished time with his grandchildren and looked forward to Sunday dinners together each week. He was deeply devoted to his daughters and proud of the lives they built, always supporting them with love and encouragement. Above all, Michael shared an extraordinary bond with Cynthia, his wife and best friend of 63 years. Together they created a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure—enjoying summers at Bethany Beach, DE and later helping establish a family compound at Lake Wood in Laporte, PA, where countless memories were made.

A man of many hobbies, he enjoyed assembling Lionel model trains, tending to his rose gardens, and had a deep love for music—taking pride in crafting mix tapes during the cassette era, an art form he perfected with care and enthusiasm. He was also a lifelong New York Yankees fan and a wine collector, known for opening a special bottle and offering sage advice and warm encouragement.

Michael leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Cynthia; three children: Christine (Steve), Kathleen (John), and Colleen (Nick); 13 grandchildren: Erin (Roman), Maggie, Caitlin, Caroline, John Michael, Christian, Patrick, Andrew, Nicholas, Samantha, Adrienne, Carmen, and Charlotte; one great-grandson, Owen; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Walsh.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 2, at St. Basil the Great Parish, 2300 Kimberton Road, Kimberton, with Rev. John Stokely officiating.
