Obituary of John J. Durante

John Durante, 94, husband of Doris (Kildea) Durante  passed away Monday December 15, 2025.

John was born December 11, 1931 in Philadelphia to the late Alexander and the late Julia (Talucci) Durante. After graduating from LaSalle High School, he pursued a degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and married the love of his life, Doris, September 10, 1955 in Sacred Heart Church, Havertown, PA.  John joined the Army.  He was off to serve his county in the US Army from 1956-1958 in Germany.  They relocated to Royersford, PA where he became the Pharmacist for Sutton Drug Store. John and Doris spent their entire married lives and raised their children in the Royersford Area, where they consider home.  They are faithful attenders to Sacred Heart and St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish. John joined Abbott Laboratories out of North Chicago in 1962 and was a Medical Representative in Bucks County.  He retired in 1998 after 36 years of faithful service.   John was a loving husband, father and dedicated worker.  His greatest passion was his family and was so proud of them.

John and his wife loved to travel and their favorite place was Alaska.  He loved going to Villanova games with his children and grandchildren.  He loved to cheer on the Flyers, Eagles and Phillies.  He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, cards and gardening in his later years.  Ocean City was a favorite vacation spot with family and going to Cancun.  He was a past member of Sacred Heart Home and School Association, basketball coach at CYO Sacred Heart, Webelos Scout Leader, usher at church and active member of Silver liners Senior Group.

He loved life and especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His best friend was his wife Doris.  His favorite sayings were “It was meant to be” and “Be Happy.”

John leaves behind his beloved wife, Doris (Kildea) Durante of 70 years and three children:  Joseph M. Durante (Jeanne), David J. Durante (Trudy) and Jeanne Durante Halteman (David) . 

Seven Grandchildren:  Jon Christopher (Christina); Jamie (Alyssa); Ragen (Christopher); Brett (Kaitlyn); Blake (Jordan); Taylor and Zachary

Six  great grandchildren:  Luke, Joseph Robert, Addison, Declan, Bryce, and Julian

His siblings preceded him in death:  The late Albert Durante (Louise) , The Late Rosina Pietrofesse (Alfred) and the Late Elizabeth D’Elia (Gaetano). 

A Memorial service will be held at St. Theresa of Calcutta, Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11 AM.  Visitation prior to the Mass will be from 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM; Military Honors and Burial to be immediately following at the Limerick Garden of Memories.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Association
