Obituary of Marion G. Harris
Marion G. Harris, 93, Spring City
Marion G. Harris, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 26, 1932, in Alverda, PA, Marion was one of nine children of the late Thomas and Violet (Shultz) Anderson. On Christmas Day, 1956, she married Joe Harris. In 1960, they moved to the Spring Ford area when Joe began working at Phoenix Steel.
Marion was known for her faith, strong discipline, and remarkable cooking. She was “awesome with a wooden spoon and deadly with a shoe.” She delighted in preparing feasts for family and friends, with her signature potato salad and Poor Man’s Cake, which were often imitated but never duplicated. Later in life, Marion also was employed at the Phoenixville Hospital in the cafeteria.
Marion and Joe experienced the loss of a child early in their marriage. While seeking a church to hold baby Patricia Ann’s services, Marion helped lay the foundation for what is now Grace Assembly of God. She played an instrumental role in its early growth, serving as a board member, Sunday School teacher, faithful attendee, and, into her 90s, a welcoming greeter. Her devotion to faith and family touched countless lives, and many can trace their spiritual journeys to her generosity and faithfulness.
Marion is survived by her five children: John “Jack” Harris (Tricia), James A. Harris “Winger” (Kathryn), Joseph F. Harris Jr. (Jacqueline), Nancy Harris (Walter Bailey), and Jeff Harris (Serena); ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Arthur Anderson (Judy) and Lynn Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Harris; grandchildren Christopher James Harris and Bradley Harris; and six siblings: Lyle “Bud,” Clayton, Richard, Ken, Nancy, and Erma.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Grace Assembly of God, 1271 W. Bridge Street, Spring City, with Rev. Chris Czuchra officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at East Vincent United Church Cemetery, Hill Church Road, Spring City, PA 19475.
As it was said of her: “She waited her whole life to see Jesus come.” She is now celebrating in Heaven.
