Albert Bradford Matthes, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born on August 10, 1943, in Glen Cove, New York, Albert spent his early years on Long Island, where he developed the character, values, and warmth that would define his life.

Albert proudly served his country in the United States Navy, including active duty aboard the USS Randolph. He was honorably discharged on July 10, 1967. Following his service, he met the love of his life, Jeannie. They were married in Farmingdale, New York on October 21, 1967, the beginning of a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and devotion.

After their marriage, Albert settled in Pennsylvania, where he dedicated himself to raising and cherishing his family. He earned his degree from Villanova University, an accomplishment he held with great pride throughout his life.

Albert built a successful career in computer software sales, becoming a respected and accomplished professional. His work took him across the country, often bringing his family along, creating lasting memories in beautiful destinations.

Outside of his career, Albert was a man of extraordinary creativity and talent. He was an avid golfer, actively participating in clubs and tournaments. He especially loved teaching his son and daughter the game.

In his free time, Albert immersed himself in many artistic pursuits. He found joy and contentment in calligraphy, drawing, woodworking, gold leafing, painting and furniture making. His creativity seemed boundless, and his craftsmanship reflected patience, beauty, quiet mastery and timeless dedication, gifts of love his family will treasure for generations.

Albert, known affectionately as Al, Albee, Poppy or Dad was admired for his genuine and kind-hearted nature. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen and appreciated, always ready with a compliment, a story, or a laugh. A natural conversationalist, he brought warmth and humor wherever he went.

As a father, Albert openly expressed his love and took pride in nurturing both the intellectual and athletic pursuits of his children. He shared a deep bond with his wife, Jeannie, and together they loved hosting gatherings and bringing loved ones together. Their home was centered on embracing and cherishing moments filled with flavorful dishes, conversation and authentic laughter.

He especially adored his four grandchildren, Stephen, Emma, Avery, and Reese. Time with them brought him his greatest joy, as he spent hours sharing stories, reminiscing, and talking about sports and the moments shaping their lives. He leaves behind not only cherished memories, but also lasting lessons in drawing, writing, and woodworking that they will carry in their hearts forever.

Albert will be remembered for his welcoming spirit, bright smile, his creativity and his humor, but above all else the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy endures in the lives he touched and the memories that will be  forever cherished. Once a sailor, a devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather, his love will remain a guiding light, steady as the sea.

He is survived by his beloved daughter Kelly Anne Yurick, her husband Stephen John Yurick III, Daughter in law Jessica Potvin and his four adored grandchildren, Stephen John Yurick IV, Emma Anne Yurick, Avery Grace Matthes and Audrey Reese Matthes.
