Michael Phillips, Phoenixville
Michael Phillips passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, at The Wayne Center.
Born January 5, in Philadelphia, Michael was the son of the late James Phillips and the late Gladys (Shugg) Phillips. A graduate of Overbrook High School, Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. During his distinguished military career, he served valiantly in the Korean War and was stationed in Germany for many years.
Following his military service, Michael dedicated more than 30 years of employment to the School District of Philadelphia before his retirement. Above all, Michael was a man of deep faith who served God faithfully throughout his life, remaining devoted to attending daily Mass whenever possible.
Although Michael never married, he was a devoted brother, uncle, and great-uncle who cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his brother, George Phillips and his wife, Eileen; his sister, Maryann Demski, widow of the late William Demski; and his beloved nieces and nephews: Diane Mariotti and her husband, Joseph; Karen Boylan and her wife, Meghan Bradley; and Dawn Milio and her husband, Richard. He is also survived by his great-nephews, Joseph Mariotti and his wife, Courtney, and Nicholas Mariotti and his wife, Alexa. Michael is predeceased by his sister Doris Rodriguez.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph RC Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, with Rev. Charles O’Hara officiating.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation Tuesday morning from 10:30 AM at the church prior to the Mass. Burial will immediately follow at Laurel Hill West Cemetery, 225 Belmont Ave. Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
