John Patrick O'Neill, 66, Phoenixville
John “Jack” O'Neill, 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026, at Reading Hospital.
Born on March 19, 1960, in Philadelphia, Jack was the son of the late John E. O'Neill and Dorothy (Durisin) O'Neill. Eldest of three brothers, he grew up in Philadelphia, where he attended St. Martha Parish School and graduated at the top of his class from Archbishop Ryan High School with the Class of 1978.
Jack went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University in 1982. He began his professional career with PECO working at the Schuylkill power plant. During his career with PECO, he earned his MBA from Drexel University.
In 2001, Jack joined PJM and spent over 24 years there, most recently as a Principal Engineer. Throughout his career there, he played an integral role in the organization's growth and success and was widely respected for his expertise, hard work, and unwavering dedication.
Above all else, Jack was a devoted father to his three children, John (Jake), Calvin, and Caroline. He was actively involved in their lives, sports, and activities. Jack was an active parishioner of St. Basil the Great Parish where he shared his steadfast Faith. He spent time on his hobbies including astronomy, photography, technology, and lifelong love of music, specifically classic rock. Jack was also known to fix anything and everything to help his family and friends.
Jack will be deeply missed by his loving children; mother; brothers, Mark O'Neill and his wife Karen of Audubon, Pennsylvania, and Joseph O'Neill and his wife Donna of Palm Springs, California; his niece, Hannah DeGemmis and her husband Brett; his nephew, Levi O'Neill; Jill O’Neill, former spouse and mother of his children; and his current girlfriend, Terry Tomon.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10th at St. Basil the Great Roman Catholic Church, Kimberton. Family and friends may visit with the family from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass.
In addition, the family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, June 9th, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the R. Strunk Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
