Joseph Romero, (Joe) age 89, formerly of Flemington New Jersey,  passed away peacefully on April 11, 2020.  He was a graduate of Eastside High School in Newark New Jersey.  Joe studied mechanical engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken New Jersey. 

Joe was a First  Lieutenant in the Air Force while serving in active duty in Osan Korea. Joe was awarded the National Defense Service Metal.  His first daughter, Ruth, was born while he was serving in Korea. 

Joe  worked as an engineer at Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) for over 41 years. During his work tenure at PSE&G, Joe was an engineer at the Kearny, Mercer, Burlington and Linden Generating Station, he retired as Chief Engineer.  He met his future wife, Theresa,  when he started working at PSE&G in Newark New Jersey. She caught his attention during his orientation week at PSE&G, while she was a typist there.   He convinced a friend  to introduce him to Theresa and they were married eight months later.  

Joe was a life-long fan of the Philadelphia Eagles football team and the New York Rangers hockey team. 

In retirement, he closely followed news events and politics. He enjoyed supporting  his political party at the voting polls and for voter registration. Joe was a devoted father. He taught his daughters to be self-sufficient, to think independently and to value education. He experienced immense joy visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by his parents Antonia and Peregrino Romero, and a sister Mary Nunez. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 66 years Theresa Rose (Terry). His love for her had no limits their entire marriage. Daughters Dr. Ruth Jajosky (husband Dr. Philip), Laura Swain (husband Mark), Amy Sutton (husband David), seven grandchildren Dana O'Donnell (husband Frank), Dr.Jessica Jajosky (husband Dr. Bruce Chen), Bryn Kathryn Swain, Dr. Audrey Jajosky, Dr. Ryan Jajosky, Christopher Sutton and Matthew Sutton, three great-grand children Lila O'Donnell, Benjamin O'Donnell, Marcus Chen.   A private funeral will be held.
