Obituary of Warren Roger Whitman

Warren "Roger" Whitman, age 68, husband of Linda (Potts) Whitman died Wednesday at his home in St. Peter's, PA surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Phoenixville, PA a son to the late Joseph and Lois (Smith) Whitman. He was a 1961 graduate of Spring Ford High School and then joined the Army in July of 1961 and spent three years in the army serving in the Green Beret Special Forces and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed for forty years for the United States Postal Service retiring as a supervisor. Also worked part time for the Reading railroad and as a Police officer in Spring City.
Roger was past president of the Pottstown Quoit Club, a Life member of the Veteran of Foreign War Post 6341 of Royersford and a member of the Spring City American Legion Post 602 Thomas w. O'Connor.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening was an avid eagles fan and enjoyed sports.
In addition to his wife of 46 years he is survived by daughter; Jennifer wife of Aaron Bunting of Warwick Township, Son: Todd Whitman of St. Peter's and three grandchildren: Josh, Anna, and Jacob. And preceded in death by mother and father in law: Merrill and Geraldine Potts and sister in law: Sharon Tyson wife of Carter and brother in law: Thomas Potts husband of Karen. And several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday at 10:30am at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Bridge and Church streets Spring City. The Rev. Donald Eisenhower will officiate. Burial to follow in the limerick Garden of memories. Visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 9-1:30am. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the St. Jude Children's Research hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38015. On line tributes may be made at www.sgsfuneralhome.com
