Obituary of Clair B. Betzko

Clair B. Betzko, 84, husband of the late of C. Louise (Haas) Betzko, died Wednesday, January 4, at the Golden Living Center, Phoenixville, PA.
He was born on February 25, 1927 in Treverton, PA, son to the late Marie (Betzko) Mattia.

Clair lived most of his life in Spring City. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre on the destroyer escort USS McGinty (DE365). Clair was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Spring City. And was employed at the former Diamond Glass Co. in Royersford until his retirement.
He volunteered at various VA Hospitals and was active and past officer and trustee of the Spring City American Legion Post 602 Thomas W. O'Connor. Life member of the Liberty Fire Company, Spring City, Friendship Fire Company, Royersford, and Treverton Fire Company. He was also a member of the Chester County Firemen Association. Clair enjoyed reading, putting together puzzles, going to the casino, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clair is survived by seven children: Ann Marie wife of William Sarber, Hanover, MD, Clair Jr. husband of Karen Betzko, New Holland, OH, Joan wife of Richard Weber, Pottstown, PA, Phyllis wife of Gary Dinicola, Thorndale, PA, Kathleen Yerks, Loxahatchee, FL, Mark Betzko, Spring City, PA, and Donna wife of Michael Ondik, Conshohocken, PA. 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his half-sister Bernadette, wife of Edward Wasko, Camp Hill, PA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Wednesday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 3460 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, with the Rev. Charles O'Hara officiating. Burial to follow at the Limerick Garden of Memories.
His viewing will be held on Tuesday evening in the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Bridge and Church Streets, Spring City, PA from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday morning in the church from 10-10:30 am. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the Spring City American Legion Post 602, 25 N. Main St. Spring City, PA. 19475. On line tributes may be made at www.sgsfuneralhome.com
