Type Obit HereArvilla (Good) Souder, 87, wife of the late Norman K. Souder, of East Vincent Township, died Friday, February 3, 2012. She was born on October 5, 1924, in East Vincent Township to the late Henry H. and the late Grace (Kolb) Good. She was an East Vincent Township resident all of her life, except for the last few years. Arvilla attended Locust Grove School where she met her husband. Norman and Arvilla married on August 26,1945. After a brief stint with farming, they owned and operated Souder's Poultry, with a wholesale business and retail markets. From 1966 to 1991, they owned and operated the Phoenix and Springford Car Washes. After Norman's death in 1991, Arvilla continued in the carwash business. Arvilla was an active, life-long member of the Vincent Mennonite Church. She served her community through the Spring City Library and Garden Clubs. She also participated in the Dock Woods Retirement Community Auxiliary where she served as treasurer and quilter. From 1974 to 1976, Norman and Arvilla served as host and hostess of the International Guest House in Washington DC. An avid seamstress, quilter, gardener, hostess, and world traveler, Arvilla lived a full life. In her quiet, unassuming, accepting way, she was a dedicated friend to many. Most recently, she enjoyed her life at Dock Woods Community, Lansdale, PA. Surviving are her three children: Barbara A, Souder of Spring City; Merle G. Souder, husband of Nancy Souder of Pueblo West, CO; Peggy L. Souder, wife of Nathan Dick of Newton, KS; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Ethel Souder of Douglassville, PA, Rhoda Dean of Kremmling, CO, and Eunice Miller of Spring City and Sarasota, FL. Two sisters, Edith Good and Dorothy Weaver, predeceased her. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Vincent Mennonite Church, 39 Seven Stars Road, Spring City, with the Rev. Timothy Moyer officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. There will be a private burial in Vincent Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 S.12th Street, Akron, PA 17501, www.mcc.org, and Mennonite Economic Development Association, 32-C East Roseville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, www.meda.org.
