Obituary of Irvin E. "Bud" Custer

Irvin "Bud" E. Custer, age 92, formerly of Oaks, died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at The Columbia Cottage, Collegeville PA. He was born in Norristown to the late Elmer and the late Edith (Bortman) Custer. Irvin "Bud" Custer was a 1936 graduate of Phoenixville High School. He served during World War II and the Korean War in the US Army from 5/23/46 to 11/18/52. Bud also served in the reserves for several years. Irvin was in partnership in the family business of Custer's Garage in Oaks and Custer's Bus Company for the Spring Ford School District for several years until his retirement. Also a volunteer at the Oaks Fire Company. And a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oaks where he served as an usher. Bud's family would like to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Columbia Cottage for their outstanding service.
He is survived by his wife: Beatrice (Shoemaker) Custer. Four children: Kenneth I. wife Cindy Lynn Custer of Georgetown, DE; Laura Lynne wife of Ronald Clark of Oaks; Steven A. Custer husband of Jennifer L. of Largo FL; Diane E. wife of David Smith of Lafayette Hill, PA.
Six Grandchildren: Craig, Jessica, Caden, Christian, Daniel and Derek. Brother, Russell Custer and wife Ann. And sister in law: Ruth "Daisy Custer and brother in law: Leon Weigner. Preceded in death by brother, Elmer K Custer, Jr. and sisters: Mildred McArthur and Nedah Weigner.
Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing held on Thursday, March 15th from 6:30PM to 8:00 PM at the Devlin, Rosmos, Kepp, & Gatcha Funeral Home 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 16th at 11:00 AM in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 126 Black Rock Road, Oaks. With the Rev. Daniel Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Spring City.
