Obituary of Florence Loretta Beard

Florence L. Beard, 84, Royersford

Florence Beard, 84, passed away early on Monday, February 08, 2021 at Phoenixville Hospital.  She was born March 22, 1936 in Spring City to the late Claude and Erma (Kugler) Beard.  Having lived almost her entire life in Spring City, she is a graduate of the former Spring City High School.  After graduation from West Chester State College, she taught school for a short period of time before being employed in the office of Jones Motor Company, Valley Forge Army Hospital, Pennhurst State Hospital, and Norristown State Hospital, from which she retired.

Florence enjoyed traveling to England, France, and other European countries as well as places in the U.S., with family members. She enjoyed reading, doing various crafts, and taking care of her dogs. She was a lifelong member of Spring City United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for decades.   

Florence is predeceased by her siblings Claude Beard, Jr., Doris (Beard) Marshall, Everett Beard, Dolores (Beard) Tyson, and Joan Beard. She is also predeceased by her nephews, Scott Tyson and Claude “Skipper” Beard, and her niece, Karen Beard.  She is survived by her nieces Cindy Wylie, Barbara Marshall, Cheryl Thomas, and Loretta Appleton and her nephew Randy Beard.

Due to COVID restrictions, a memorial service with burial of ashes at Zion Lutheran Cemetery will be held at a later date.
