Ronald Thompson, 80, Spring City


Ronald “Juke” Thompson, 80, father, coach, teacher and local businessman passed away Friday July 9, 2021.


An only child, born December 6, 1940 to the late Frank Thompson and the late Edna (Maute) Thompson, grew up his entire life in the Spring City area.

A 1958 Spring Ford graduate, Ron went on to study Health and Physical Education and graduated from West Chester University in 1962. Ron had a love and passion for sports, he excelled in every sport he played. A sportsman and love of people, Ron worked for Owen J. Roberts as a coach and also taught Health, Physical Education and Driver’s Education. After retirement, Ron started a second career as the founder and owner of Thompson Tire in Dryville, PA. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going fishing with his boys, and watching his grandsons play baseball. Family gatherings were important to him.


Ron leaves behind his three sons: Michael Thompson, Jeff Thompson and James Thompson.  Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.


All services will be private at the request of the family. A private graveside interment of ashes will be held at a later date at the Parkerford Baptist Church Cemetery.
