Obituary of June (Keinard) Himes

June (Keinard) Himes, age 97, wife of the late Richard A. Himes of Birdsboro, PA died on Monday October 17, 2022 in the Manatawny Manor, Pottstown, PA. She was surrounded by her children.

Born in Baumstown, PA, June was the daughter of the late Heber and Susan (Hoch) Keinard. She was a graduate of Birdsboro High School and resided most of her life in Birdsboro.

June was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church and very active over the years in the church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a lifelong, avid Phillies fan and enjoyed knitting, baking, and mostly spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was employed for over 23 years by Daniel Boone School District as a “lunch lady” and worked for 18 years in sales in the men’s department at Boscov’s East.

June is survived by her son, Dr. Thomas Himes (Margaret), and her daughters, Heather Lilienthal (Stanley) and Fern Detwiler (Randall). She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson Daniel Detwiler, two sisters, Anna Botting and Fern Seidt, and an infant brother, Leonard Henry Keinard.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday 10/22/2022 at 11am at St. James Lutheran Church, 1337 Geigertown Road, Geigertown, PA 19523. The Reverend Beverly Wenrich will officiate. Burial is to follow in the church cemetery.  A calling hour will be held Saturday at the church from 10am-11am. A luncheon for friends and family will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her memory to St. James Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 5, Geigertown, PA 19523.
