Robert Simmers, 78, Malvern Robert Simmers, 78, husband of Becky Simmers, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Southeastern Veterans Center. He bravely served in the US Navy in the Korean War. Robert was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, to the late Harry and the late Virginia (Stoneberger) Simmers. He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School in Maryland, moved to the Chester Springs area and worked for IBM as a branch manager until retirement. Robert was an avid golfer and active in the community; he was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Hagerstown and a Master Mason in the Grand Lodge of Masons, Maryland. In addition to Becky, his wife, surviving are three sons: Bob, Kevin and John; two step-daughters: Renee Stipa and Adrienne McNamara; a brother: Joseph Simmers; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son, Craig and brother, Charles. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Philadelphia Veterans Hospital Parkinsons Research Center; 3900 Woodland Ave; Philadelphia, PA 19104, Suite 127.
