Betty A. Rooney, 94, Collegeville
Betty Rooney, 94, passed away Saturday November 05, 2022 at home surrounded by her family and caregiver.
One of 8 siblings, she was born August 19, 1928 in Port Providence to the late William and the late Anna (Boyer) Burns. Betty grew up and spent most of her long life in the Port Providence and Phoenixville Area near many of her friends and family. She enjoyed ice skating on the canal, camping and country line dancing. Betty worked at the Flag Company sewing the stars on the American Flag for most of her seamstress career. Nothing brought a smile to her face faster than putting extra whipped cream on her grandchildren’s desserts that she prepared every holiday. Anyone who ever met Betty knew of her love of cats and the color purple. She had a fondness for chocolate, gossip magazines and daytime soap operas.
She was preceded in death by her two sons: Joseph Wayne Rooney, (who died at age 2) and Harold “Scott” Rooney, and her granddaughter, Alora Rooney.
Betty leaves behind Jodie Rooney, wife of the late Scott Rooney of Collegeville, her sister, Mary Lou Miller of Port Providence, and her Grandchildren: Eric, Keesha, and Zachary; and 10 Great Grandchildren: Brittany, Dominic, Meadow, Eric Jr., Taylor, Gabriella, Niamh, Skarlett, Violet and Case; and three Great-Great Grandchildren, Rylan, Carson and Odin.
