Doris E. (Beard) Marshall, 88, wife of the late Donald H. "Goldie" Marshall of Spring City, died early Friday morning in the Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Royersford. She was born in and lived all her life, until recently, in Spring City, a daughter to the late Claude and Erma (Kugler) Beard. Doris was a lifelong and active member of the First United Church of Christ in Spring City, volunteering in the food pantry. She was also a member of the class of 1943 of the former Spring City High School. She was employed at Schuylkill Valley Hosiery, was an Avon salesperson, a crossing guard at the Spring City Elementary School, and then the secretary at the Spring City Elementary School for more than 20 years until her retirement. Doris loved helping others and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Spring Ford Historical Museum, Project Outreach and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. She also loved spending time with family and friends and traveling both in the U.S. and abroad. She is survived by daughters Cynthia Wylie and Barbara Marshall and her sister Florence Beard. She is preceded in death by sisters Dolores "Dolly" Tyson and E. Joan Beard, and brothers Claude Beard, Jr. and Everett Beard. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11am on Saturday 9/14/13 at the First United Church of Christ, 145 Chestnut Street, Spring City, with the Rev. Erick Kern officiating. Burial will be on the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday morning in the church from 10am to 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the First United Church of Christ to the above address or the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741.
