Obituary of Raymond C. Schroll
Raymond Carl Schroll, 79, Phoenixville
Raymond C. Schroll, 79, husband to Helene (Bruso) Schroll, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, in the Phoenixville Hospital.
One of three children, born December 19, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois, to the late Raymond and the late Dorothy (Streight) Schroll, Raymond graduated from MacArthur High School in Decatur and then obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Raymond married Helene and had two boys. While being employed at Firestone, his family moved to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, where he worked until the plant closed. Then, he worked at SKF Industries in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, primarily as the Facilities Manager, until retirement.
Raymond was a man of faith, family and the details. He could fix anything and was extremely proud of his garden, especially his tomatoes. It wasn’t uncommon for him and Helene to just drive to Lancaster County to enjoy the farm country, especially the tractors. One of the favorite family trips was to Ocean City, New Jersey, where Raymond spent most of his time on the boardwalk enjoying the sights, sounds and peanuts. He was meticulous, even when it came to the kind of beach wagon to purchase because it needed to have the perfect wheels and be big enough for the grandkids. He was generous-hearted and there was nothing that he wouldn’t do for his family.
Raymond believed in his heart and confessed Jesus as his Savior. He faithfully read the Bible every morning and the daily devotional written by Jim Bracelin. He thanked the Lord for redeeming his life and for the most wonderful, loving, beautiful wife and family any man could ever be given. He said, “God was always good to me.”
Raymond leaves behind his loving wife, Helene Schroll; sister, Marsha Rodgers (husband, Dave); brother, Roger Schroll; sons, Bryan Schroll (wife, Sandra) and Steven Eric Schroll (wife, Shelly); grandchildren, Laura Schroll, Alyson Punzi, Matthew Schroll (wife, Olivia), Kyle Schroll, Madison Schroll, Sawyer Schroll, Anna Schroll, Reagan Schroll, Bethany Schroll, Benjamin Caleb Schroll, and Emily Schroll, and one great grandchild, Lois Punzi. He is preceded in death by his grandson-in-law, Frank Punzi, III.
A private family burial will be on May 23, 2023. The public is invited to a Celebration of Life Service. Friends are invited to visit with the family during the visitation prior to the service, June 3, 2023, from 10-11 AM.
