I did not know Michael well. I met him at his family reuion picnic at his brother’s house in the late 80s. He was kind and funny and had a brilliant smile and a leprechaun’s glint in his eyes. My thoughts and prayers to his wife, children and his siblings. Godspeed Michael. May the Angels guide you gently home.

I have many wonderful memories of Michael. Some of the best are from the summer of 1971 when we lived in my uncle’s trailer in Wildwood, NJ; his visit to State College for the Penn State Maryland game; and our many picnic golf foursomes. But my most lasting memory will be his performance impersonating a sign language interpreter during Dennis’s presentation of the golf trophy at last year’s picnic.
We all lost a great guy and I will miss him.
God Bless,
Glenn Gamble

My brother Michael was truly one of a kind. He always had a smile on his face, you could always count on him sharing some words about his latest adventure and he always, always had a kind word for everyone.
He loved his family and especially his siblings. There was never a shortage of a good story to be told by Michael whenever he was around his family and friends which always included that unmistakable, uproarious laugh..
My heart aches that he is no longer with us but his memory will live with me forever. I know he is with all of our family members who have passed before him and I'm certain that his spirit will be carried with us eternally.
The world outside our doors will be a constant reminder of you, Michael, forever keeping your spirit alive in our hearts.

I was blessed to spend two days in August with Michael and some of his good friends exploring Gettysburg. I was amazed at his stories of the places he had been over the years, sometimes with those friends, and sometimes by himself. He didn’t boast about his travels, they just came out naturally, in a very humble way, during the course of our conversations. And he was so well read. To me, was a true exemplar of what it means to be a “gentleman and a scholar”.
