Obituary of Martha McDaniel

Please share a memory of Martha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Martha Mary (Sheha) McDaniel, age 88, wife of the late Jack M. McDaniel of Royersford, died on Wednesday December 6, 2023, in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Pottstown PA, Martha was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Shalhoup) Sheha. Martha was a graduate of Pottstown High School; Class of 1953, where she was Head Drum Majorette. Her love of the marching band led her to be a longtime supporter of the Spring-Ford HS Band programs where she was heavily involved in the Band Auxiliary.

She married Jack in 1954 and lived in Royersford, raising two sons as members of the Royersford Baptist Church. Over the years she was employed by the Royersford Police Department as a crossing guard at Fifth Avenue and Walnut Street and at the Spring-Ford Knitting Company in Spring-City. She was an avid bowler at the Liberty Fire Company with her team "The Poodles" and was also involved with the Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was a Super Sports fan following all the Philly teams as well as Villanova University, but her passion was greatest for the Golden Rams of Spring-Ford where she cheered on her sons, grandchildren and many "adopted" athletes.

Martha will be missed by her two sons: Mickey (Becky) McDaniel and Eric (Susan) McDaniel and 4 grandchildren: Kyle McDaniel, Kori Theusch, Erica Slaughter, and Kayla McDaniel; 2 great grandchildren: Maxwell and Mason, and many nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by Jack as well as 3 brothers and 6 sisters.

A celebration of Martha's life will be held in the spring of 2024, and in lieu of flowers or specific memorial gifts please consider donating to your local veterans organization, fire company, or charity of your choice in her name.
