Evie and Jeff Onopa Our deepest condolences to the entire family. We will forever miss Joan. She brought the entire family together at Thanksgiving and kept traditions alive. We can still hear her reading the Thanksgiving prayer which was passed down from Lenny’s mother, Julia Onopa. Thank you Joan for all the great family memories!

I met Joan in 1970 at PSU and Sandy met Joan later that decade. Our last time with Joan was 2022 at PSU. Joan was our friend, being with her was a blessing. Joan will forever be in our hearts. Our deepest condolences and love to Lenny, Justin, Morgan and Ryan.

I took this photo at Blue Marsh Lake in Autumn back in 2021. I was about to leave when I looked over to see these 6 people who have always been such strong pillars of love and support in my life for as long as I can remember. Joan being one of them. Aunt Joan, when I think of you, you will always be dancing and smiling…I feel forever blessed to have many joyous memories of our family gatherings. Memories filled with love, laughter, good food, warmth, and Aunt Joan swaying to the music. Love Always, Kelly

Oh, how I will miss my good friend Joan. We worked together, supported each other, in good times and bad. She, Darnell, and I frequently laughed, cried, and brought healing solutions to each other's challenges, over lunch. She was a welcome presence in so many lives. She was such a bright light. And oh, how she loved her family. She yearned to live to see her next grandchild, but she also knew that a new life in the Onopa family would carry her light into the world. To Joanie’s dear family. We were childhood friends , we did everything together, making our First Holy Communion together, going to Mass, swimming at Saucon Park, we would walk with Gloria. Gloria taught us a lot. We were lifeguards together at Saucon Park. As we grew older we lost contact but she sent me a Christmas card and I texted her and we agreed to catch up soon. In my formative years as a teen and young adult I was blessed to know Joan as a second mother. Literally at her house everyday haha! I remember the impression Joan left on me that my own mother could not. That was the impression that I could do anything I wanted and I could be a fighter. She demonstrated what love looks like in a relationship and Im particularly fond of that because I found it. She challenged me with questions at the dinner table about what I wanted for my life. Beach trips, family gatherings, and low key visits meant so much to me because of time with Joan and her lovely family. A beautiful woman and soul. See you again someday and thank you for taking the time to show me love. Xoxo
