Obituary of Dorsey Reynolds

Please share a memory of Dorsey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Husband, Father and Grandpa, Dorsey Reynolds, of Willow Valley Communities in Lancaster, PA peacefully entered Heaven on February 23 after a short battle with pneumonia.

Dorsey was born to Martha Hastings and Dorsey Reynolds Sr on November 6, 1934 in Wilmington, DE.  He graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO and earned his Masters of Science degree in Library Science (MSLS) from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He was the Library Director at what is now University of Valley Forge. During his time there, he managed the modernization of the collection and several upgrades of the facilities for 42 years until his retirement. He also volunteered or worked part time at several libraries starting in his teens and throughout his life, including Phoenixville Public Library for 25+ years. His dedication and love of books was an example to family and students. He had a fulfilled life led by God’s will and devotion to family and friends.

In 1963, Dorsey married Naomi Eldridge Reynolds, a match truly made in Heaven, now having celebrated over 60 years together. Dorsey & Naomi had 2 children, Ruth Kay Reynolds-Zoda and Daryl Jay Reynolds, and 2 grand-daughters, Natalie Zoda, born to Ruth and her husband, Tom Zoda, and Emma Reynolds, born to Daryl and his wife, Mariette Reynolds.

Dorsey loved his family and was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. He loved the church, serving in various roles including Board Member and Sunday School teacher at Grace Assembly, until Dorsey and Naomi’s move to Lancaster in May 2023.

Dorsey is survived by many loving family members, including his wife and best friend, Naomi, along with their children, spouses and granddaughters. Our family is grateful to know that Dorsey is at peace.

Services will be held at Grace Assembly, 1271 W Bridge St, Spring City, PA 19475 on Saturday, March 2 with Viewing from 10:30-Noon, Service at Noon and Fellowship together at 2:00 following the cemetery burial in Limerick.
