Obituary of Douglas Charles Mentzer

Douglas  Charles Mentzer, 75, Royersford

Douglas Mentzer, 75,  passed away Wednesday April 3, 2024 in the Phoenixville Hospital.

Doug was born October 5, 1948 to the late  Charles  and the late Georgianna (Weber) Mentzer.  He was youngest of two sons.  As the son of the Farm Manager for the then Montgomery County Geriatric Center, he took over the farm responsibilities after his dad retired.  Doug enjoyed farming and even after he lost his leg to diabetes could still climb up and ride on a tractor. He especially enjoyed his Zero turn which kept him out in the yard.

Passionate in Drag racing. Doug won four National Titles.  He traveled around the country, including New Jersey, Maryland and Indianapolis, Indiana.  He was a faith member of the New Hanover Methodist Church prior to moving into the Parkhouse.

Surviving is his son, Shawn (Jill) Mentzer and grandchildren, Taylor and Mackenzie Mentzer.  He is predeceased by his brother; Ronnie and Son, Brian Mentzer.
