Lee and Susan have been members of our Thanksgiving family for over 40 years. With our friends the Grossmans, we now include the second and third generations – Anja and John (who have graciously hosted the past few gatherings), Sam and Lily, and our children and grandchildren. During those many years of celebration, Lee provided many memories that we cherish. In the beginning, there was Lee and our son Mark, in his coonskin cap at age five, sitting at the top of the hill in our recently purchased home. That same year, we visited the Vietnam War Memorial where Lee wept for those he knew on the wall. For many years, Lee would regale us with stories of his hunting trips to Wisconsin, which he loved and usually occurred right before Thanksgiving. He was also good for frozen martinis transported from home. One year, he deep fried the turkey, which left some of us yearning for the traditional roasted version. Finally, for Howard there were the many years of his duets with Lee, belting out Dylan’s “Forever Young,’ much to the delight of the rest of the gang. Thanksgiving won’t be the same without him.
With love,
Howard and Marilyn Silver
