Obituary of Brian Julius Hanuska

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Brian Julius Hanuska “Red” age 47, of Spring City PA and formerly of Johnstown, PA died on Friday June 14, in the Phoenixville Hospital after a brief illness.

Brian leaves behind his longtime companion and significant other Virginia “Jen” Magi, and loving son Anthony Allison. Brian was born and raised in Johnstown, PA, beloved son to Karl Hanuska Sr., and Patricia (Orzechowski) Hanuska.

Brian will be sorely missed as his family is heartbroken by his passing. Brian was a graduate of the Greater Johnstown High School. He then went on to further his education graduating from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, and always wanting to continue his education and having the desire to use his mind and learn, Brian achieved his Master’s Degree from Penn State University in Architecture and a Masters in Information Science. He began his employment in Computer Science and Internet Technology by consulting for the Military. He was employed for most of his career with GSI, and then eventually moved on with his talents and continued achieving and completing his MBA (Masters in Business) and was presently working on his Teaching Certificate, as well as his MFA (Masters in Finance).  Brian also was an Adjunct Professor for Elizabethtown College during the Covid-19 Pandemic, and was employed by United Health Care, and presently SEI Investment Company, Oaks, PA.

All while building his very extensive career, Brian found joy in spending time outdoors fly fishing, hunting and camping, archery, and shooting firearms.  He also spent his time tying flies and he loved gardening.

In addition to his son, significant other and parents he is survived by Sisters: Tanya (Rick Brubaker), Jayne (Russell Long) Brothers: Karl Hanuska Jr. (Rudolph Strickwood), John Hanuska (Betsy), Heath and Justin Hanuska, granddaughter, Hayden, a stepson: Aleksander Magi and several nieces and nephews.  He will also be sadly missed by the family of friends we have made.

Brian was the best person I ever knew.  He was the most selfless person, almost to his detriment sometimes, but that was the kind of man he was. He was always one for living in the moment and had the philosophy to always try things twice. He was surprisingly sensitive, and he taught me how to live life and just love.  He was always up for a road trip or dancing and singing in the garage. He never met a stranger, always a friend, and we made many friends along the way. He just wanted to have fun and be happy, and take care of everyone.  He was a beautiful person that we all will miss very much.  He has changed me and my life for the better and my world will be different without him in it.
