Obituary of Jonathan Henry Munz

Jonathan Henry Munz, 29, Pottstown Jonathan Henry Munz “Jon", age 29, died early Sunday morning after injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. Jon was born on March 28, 1984 and the loving son of Margaret "Maggie" Moser Munz and Rick Munz. Jon was raised in East Coventry, a 2003 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School, where he played football and was named All PAC 10 First Team Offense and Defense. After graduation Jon pursued his life dream of becoming a United States Marine. He served his county as a Marine infantryman during Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving in two tours. He received many commendations including the Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Service Defense Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation for his heroic actions. After serving in the Marines he came home and was employed with his father as a plumber for H. W. Munz Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the Spring City Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons #553, the Spring City American Legion Post 602, Thomas W. O’Connor, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6341-Royersford, and the Elverson Gun Club. Jon was known for having a kind and sweet heart. He found many joys in life and truly loved his family and friends, especially his son "Mason". He will be missed by all and always remembered for his honorable service to our country and kind spirit. In addition to his parents and son he is survived by Companion: Jackie Byron; Sisters: Beckey wife of David Seal of Morgantown and Jenney Munz of Phoenixville and Twin Brother: Matt Munz of Conshohocken. He is also survived by several Cousins and Aunts and Uncles. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday at 11am at the Zion Lutheran Church 39 Bonnie Brae Road Spring City PA The Reverend Paul Townsend will officiate. His burial will follow with Military Honors in the church cemetery. His viewing will be held on Friday evening at the church from 6-8pm and on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30am. Masonic Service will be held on Saturday at 10:15am. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Jon's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project 310 Grant Street Suite 900 Pittsburgh PA 15219.
