Obituary of David H Charles
David H Charles Jr., "Buddy", 89, husband of the late Edna Charles, formally of Germantown and Glenside, died Monday at home.
David was a WWII Army veteran and received the Purple Heart. After serving our country, David went to University of Virginia where he played baseball as a pitcher and named All State 1947 and 1950. He was recruited by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a pitcher in the Minor Leagues. After her career in baseball, David worked as an Insurance Broker for many years until his retirement. He was a memeber of the Royersford United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his daughters: Barbara Enterman and Carol Rota (Jospeh): granddaughters: Michelle, Dana and Abbey, and good family friend Alyce Neun.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Bridge and Church Streets Spring City PA, the Rev. Kahn officiating. Friends and family may call from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Limerick Garden of Memories Masoleum in Limerick.
