Obituary of Tony S Alexander

Anthony S. "Tony" Alexander, 59, of Limerick Township, Royersford, died suddenly early Saturday morning, May 3, 2014, in New Holland, PA. Tony was born in Norristown, PA the beloved son of Olga (Sikorski) Alexander and the late Leo "Pete" Alexander. Tony grew up in Conshohocken, PA. He resided in Royersford for most of his adult life. He was a graduate of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. He also attended Montgomery County Community College. Tony was presently employed as a truck driver for Reading Site Materials (Division of H&K Construction). Tony was heavily involved in the SFYAL and Spring-Ford Junior and Senior Babe Ruth Leagues. He was a coach and mentor to many youth that played baseball. He could often be found umpiring games or participating in various positions as a member of the board. Tony was a former member of Teamsters Local 107. He was also currently a member of many local organizations. He held memberships at Royersford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5341, the Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Royersford, and the Lower Pottsgrove Sportsmen's Association. Tony was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Major) Alexander of Royersford; daughter, Sarah Alexander at home; son, Chad Alexander at home and grandson, Tanner. He was preceded in death by his son, Ian Alexander. He is also survived by a sister, Mercedes Alexander of Cedar Heights and a brother, Leo Alexander of Glenwood, IL. He was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas and Andrew both of Conshohocken. He will be sorely missed by his nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, May 10th at 10:30am at the St. James United Church of Christ, 321 S. Limerick Road, Limerick, PA 19468. The Rev. John S. Steitz will officiate. Interment will be private in the Limerick Garden of Memories. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8:30pm and Saturday from 9-10am at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts can be made in his memory to the SFBR (Spring-Ford Babe Ruth) P.O. Box 1015, Royersford, PA 19468.
