Dylan James Spriggs, 6, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at home after a fearless battle with a rare brain tumor.
He was born in Phoenixville in 2010 to Aaron M. and Amanda E. (Jones) Spriggs. Dylan was a hero in many ways. He loved his family, even through his seven months battle and treatments, he never complained.
Dylan was passionate about animals, he specifically loved dinosaurs and could even name their scientific names, although Mr. Stompy, his stuffed dinosaur was his favorite. He had a joy for building with Legos and enjoyed all superheros with the best of them, like Power rangers! Dylan attended East Coventry Elementary school where he successfully completed Kindergarten and was moving onto First Grade. He played flag football for the Coventry Wildcats.
Left behind are his parents, Aaron and Amanda Spriggs; great grandmother: Agnes Mento; grandparents: Linda and Ken Jones, and Susan Spriggs ; aunts and uncles: Kimberly Jones, Kathryn Spriggs, Joshua and Lucretia Spriggs and Zachary and Bethany Spriggs; God parents: Kathryn Spriggs and Luigi Piccone and various cousins, great aunts and uncles.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in Immaculate Conception B.V.M. Church, 905 Chestnut St., Douglassville with the Reverend Monsignor John B. McCann officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm Thursday July 28, 2016 at the Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral Home 135 Bridge Street Spring City, PA 19475. Visitation prior to the service from 9-10:45 AM Friday will be held in the Narthex of the church. Arrangements are being handled by Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral home, 135 Bridge Street, Spring City, PA. Online condolences can be made at www.sgsfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Dylan Spriggs to the Child Life Department at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
