Obituary of Alvin P. Shenafield

Alvin “Jack” Shenafield, 93, widower of Ruth (Platt) Shenafield , died Thursday in Seasons Hospice.
He was born in Spring City to the late Charles and the late Martha (Pogue) Shenafield.
A member of the former Spring City United Methodist Church, he worked as a laborer for Keystone Steel Company in manufacturing.
Alvin was a veteran of WW II, serving in The European Theatre. In addition, he was a volunteer fire fighter for The Liberty Fire Company, and was a lifetime member of The Thomas W. O’Conner American Legion Post 602. He was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Thees of Spring City, and Joyce Tyson of Phoenixville; his grandchildren, Brenda Kulp and Nadine Thees, and six great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, September 13 at 10:30 AM, at The Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home 135 Bridge St. Spring City, PA, with The Reverend Dennis Keen officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 to 10:30. Burial services with military honors will be held directly following at The Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethel Church Road, Spring City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The First United Church of Christ, Spring City.
