Roy L. Smith, 81, Spring City Roy L. Smith, 81, widower of the late Emily Smith, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at home. He was born in Hatboro to the late Clarence Roy and the late Audrey (Vaux) Smith. Roy attended Norristown High School, went into the Army and after his time in the service, married the love of his life Emily (Larkin) Smith and made Royersford their home. Roy enjoyed many different types of work. He was a Milk man for Abbotts in Norristown, a car salesman for Wagners, but retired as an auto mechanic for Avis. Roy was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and a life member of the Humane Fire Company and the Masonic Lodge. He loved his sports, including baseball, football, Nascar and Bowling where he was on a number of different teams that even titled in States and Nationals. He is survived by his two children: Roy L. Smith, Jr. of Royersford and Irene V. Keeley of Spring City; three grandchildren: R.L. Smith III of Madisonville, TN, Sharon Worsnup of Birdsboro and Amy Warwick (husband, Ryan) of Spring City; three great grand children: Jade, Lilly and Jamison; a sister, Barbara Scholl, wife of David and brother: Jim Smith. Preceded in death by a sister: Joann Woodruff. Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral Home are handling all arrangements. Services and burial are private at the request of family.
