Obituary of Otis James

 

Otis “Huck” James, Jr.,  89, widower of the late Anna  (Scortico) James , died Wednesday, June 6, 2018,  in  the VA Medical Center in Coatesville.

 

He was born in Pottstown to the late Otis and the late Mildred (Keifrider) James, Sr., and lived most of his life in Royersford.  After graduating from Royersford High School, he entered the Navy and served during the Korean War.  While in the Navy, he played football and continued to play semiprofessional football for Royersford,  and also coached The Marauders.  Later, he worked the chains for the Spring Ford High School Football team.   He also was an umpire for the little league.   During his career as a machinist,  he worked for Thompson Masonry,  Lasalle Steel, Allied Steel, and retired as a foreman for American Machine and Tool Company.  In addition to his love of sports, he loved to fish, hunt, and do carpentry.

 

Otis is survived by his two children, Thomas James of Royersford,  and Mark James, of East Vincent; and his three grandchildren, Mark, Rebecca, and Jessica.  He is predeceased by his three sisters, Jean James, Peggy James, and Mary Mosteller.

 

Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at The Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge St. Spring City, PA, 19475.   Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at Fernwood Cemetery immediately following with Naval honors.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Veteran’s Administration Hospice, 1400 Black Horse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.
