Elvin S. Kolb, 76, Spring City Elvin S. Kolb, died Sunday, June 24th at home, ten day after celebrating his 76th birthday. He was born in Spring City to the late Irvin G. and the late Gladys (Souder) Kolb. One of seven children, Elvin grew up in the E. Coventry Area. He graduated from Christopher Dock High School in 1960. After high school, Elvin went to work for Amerind McKissic as a fabricator. Elvin spent two years of service in Ontario, Canada working at the Poplar Hill Residential School assisting in the maintenance of the school. After his service, Elvin returned to the Spring City area where he continued to work in welding industry and where he met the love of his life, Ruth. Elvin and Ruth loved sharing their lives with others, especially working in the family living/foster care of John and Cathy Raub. He was a lifetime member of Vincent Mennonite Church. Elvin loved the outdoors including hunting and walking in the wood. He enjoyed working with his hands specifically in furniture repair and even made furniture in their home. After retirement, Elvin and Ruth enjoyed volunteering at the Norristown Thrift Shop. He was considered an "unofficial" greeter at church and really enjoy his hugs. Elvin leaves behind twin sisters and four brothers: Doris Kolb (Lancaster), Dorothy Harnish, wife of Paul (Doylestown), Lester Kolb, husband of Sandra (Washington State), Richard Kolb, husband of Diane (Fleetwood), Ernest Kolb, husband of Nancy (Souderton) and sister in law, Sharla Padilla, wife of Luis (Virgina). Preceded in death is his brother, Gerry Kolb. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 30th at 10:00 am in Vincent Mennonite Church, 39 Seven Stars Road, Spring City with the Rev. David Mansfield and Rev. Tim Moyer officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday, June 29th and 9-10 AM Saturday June 30th at the church: Vincent Mennonite, 39 Seven Stars Road, Spring City, PA, 135 Bridge Street, Spring City, PA. Burial will be in Vincent Mennonite Cemetery officiated by Rev. Wes Boyer in Spring City.
