Obituary of Willard Hunsberger

Willard L. Hunsberger, 94, widower of  Thelma Hunsberger, died Saturday, June 30,  in Hospice House Of The VNA of St. Lukes, Bethlehem, PA.

He was born in Spring City to the late  Carl and the late Vinetta (Collopy) Hunsberger, and graduated from Spring City High School.  After high school he served in the U. S. Army in the European Theater during World War II as a decoder and translator.

He worked and retired as a Metallurgist/Researcher for Superior Tube Company in research and development.   Willard was a 60 year member of The Masonic Lodge, and he used George Washington’s Bible to be sworn in as a Mason.  He was a proud member of the “shack gang”, a group of boys from Spring City that  stayed together, and met weekly their entire lives.  Willard was well known far and wide.

Willard is survived by his two children, Diane Strouse (Ed) of Honey Brook, and Kevin Hunsberger (Linda) of Pottstown; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie in 1963.  But, he outlived all three sisters and one brother.

Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service  at Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge St., Spring City, PA  19475 on Friday, July 6, at 10:00 AM with a full Masonic service.  Burial will be held immediately following with a full military honor guard.
