Hugh M. Gallagher, 69, Spring City
Hugh Michael "Gal" Gallagher, 69, beloved husband of Kathleen (Lawless) Gallagher, died Monday, December 3, in Seasons Hospice.
He was born in Southwest Philadelphia to the late Hugh and the late Lennie May (Boring) Gallagher and has lived in the Spring City area since 1981. He is a graduate of Bishop Neuman High School, and retired after 30 years in the Reading Rail Road/Conrail organization. He was the owner and operator of Gallagher's Tavern since 1987. He was a lifetime member of Post 602 of The American Legion, The F. O. P. of Philadelphia, and St. Josephs Church. An avid reader of the newspaper, he is known as a Notre Dame Football fan, his generosity to the community, and his wonderful sense of humor. He also served in the U. S. Marine Corps.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, John Gallagher, Brendan Gallagher, and Bridget Alabakoff; three grandchildren Julian, Danon and Lillian; three sisters Teresa Kapusniak, Elizabeth Peteraf, and Nancy Ozlek, and his brother Sean Gallagher; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, High Michael Gallagher, Jr.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, Spring City, on Saturday, December 8, at 10:15 AM with Rev Charles O'Hara officiating. Visitation will be held at Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge St. Spring City, on Friday, December 7, from 6 PM to 9 PM, and on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Josephs Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Spring City
