Obituary of Michael T. Merroth

Michael T.  Merroth, 52, died Thursday, January 24,  in Seasons Hospice, due to complications from a recent illness.

He was born in Phoenixville to the late David and the late Jean (Strickland) Merroth, and is a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School.

He was a member of The St. John’s Lutheran Church, Phoenixville, as well as The Ridge Fire Company, where he served as Fire Police President for 11 years from 2004 – 2015,  and was a volunteer member for just over 20 years joining in January, 1999.

In addition to the duties with the Fire Police, Michael was usually at all fire company events, assisting with fire prevention, station tours, community events, and training nights.  Like many volunteers, the station was a second home for Michael, where he will be deeply missed.

Michael dearly loved his Freedom House Family, and his nieces and nephews.

Michael is survived by his sister, Deborah Merroth-Ahola (Bill), of Collegeville, his brother, Stephen H. Merroth (Nancy) of Chester Springs, and several nieces and nephews.    In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Thomas Merroth, husband of Judy Merroth of Dowingtown.

Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, January 31, at 10:30 AM, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 355 St. John’s Circle, Phoenixville, PA,  with The Rev. Thomas Kochenderfer officiating.  Visitation will be held at The R.
