John Wayne Stone, Sr., age 68, died on Tuesday August 10, 2010 He is the loving husband of Patricia A. (Caldwell) Stone They reside in Coatesville, PA and were formerly long time residents of Spring City, PA. John was born on December 21, 1941 the son of the late Kelly and Mary (Mitchell) Stone. John and Patricia were in their 45th year of marriage. John was a graduate of Upper Merion High School; And Bloomsburg University. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. serving as a Captain during the Vietnam War; receiving the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign, National Defense Service Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device. In 2005 he was inducted in the Upper Merion Athletic Hall of Fame. In 2007 he was honored by the Suburban One League with the Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2010 he was a guest speaker at the University of Pennsylvania Heart Association Annual Heart Ball. He was employed for thirty five years at the Upper Merion School District as Teacher, Coach and Athletic Director. John was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Spring City. He is survived by: Sons: John Stone Jr., Derek Stone and a Daughter: Jennifer (Stone) Sousa Eight grandchildren and Sister: Debra Gill. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service with full Military Honors on Monday August 16, 2010 at 1PM at the Zion Lutheran Church Rt. 724 Spring City, with the Rev. Paul Townsend officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Church Cemetery.
