Frank H. Detwiler Jr. 89, of Kimberton, PA passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday September 18th, 2010. Frank was the husband of the late Eleanor B. Detwiler, of Spring City and then the late Elizabeth F. H. Detwiler, of Kimberton.
Born in Kimberton, he was the son of the late Frank and Edna Detwiler. Frank was an academic student who graduated from Phoenixville Area High School in 1939 where he played football and baseball. He was a machinist and part owner of Frank Detwiler & Sons, Inc. of Kimberton.
Frank served in the Army Air Corps during World War War II in the area of telecommunications. He was a lifetime member of the Kimberton Fire Company where he volunteered his time both as a firefighter and a banquet server. Frank was a prior grange master of the Kimberton Grange, and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Spring City, PA. Frank enjoyed gardening, hunting pheasants, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his brother Donald Detwiler of Wayne, PA Frank is survived by sons David A. Detwiler and wife Cyndi of Warminster, PA, Jonathan E. Detwiler and wife Judy of Phoenixville, PA, and daughter Lisa E. Detwiler-Sifford and husband Scott A. Sifford of Phoenixville. Also grandchildren; Laura, Gregory, Stacey, Bryan, Anneleise Emma, and Aaron.
Relatives and friends and are invited to attend his Funeral Service service at Zion Lutheran Church, 39 Bonne Brae Road Spring City, PA Thursday September 23, 2010 at 11:00a.m. with the Rev. Paul Townsend officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday morning in church from 10-11am.In lieu of flowers Memorial gifts may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church to the above address.
