To my "dad", Our family has lost a great and loving man. You were the rock of this family and without you we will struggle, but we will get through just by knowing you are watching over us. Thank you for all the good times and bad ones too. You gave me the greatest gifts, a son, who then gave met the gift of 3 wonderful boys of my own. Thank you for the NASCAR races, thank you for the Disney trips, thank you for always being there all those times I locked my keys in my car.....and most of all for trying to keep me in line and just being you. I will do my best to make you proud and keep your memory alive everyday in everyway that I can. You were not just my father in law, but my other DAD, which meant so much more. You always made me feel like the "daddy's girl" of your family. I love you and am struggling to think of a life without you but know that we can go on knowing that one day you will be there to greet us in heaven. Until then know you are such a part of my life forever....I Love you and I miss you and though the pain is unbearable now, I know in time it will heal and get a little easier as time passes. So for now it is not goodbye but I will see you again with a smile and a hug. Love your "daughter", Shannon

Mary Lou and Jamie and Kevin, Wow what a lost of a great man that loved his family and grandchildren so much! I am so sadened by your loss. Steve and I were born in the same year only he was older than me, I was born in Dec 15. I remember having a beer or two with Steve in the good old days of NASCAR and just discussing life and his love for his children and his wife. I probably have known the Kitchens through racing for 15 plus years which has had the best memories and fun times a person can have legally! Without a doubt this loss is a hard to swallow but through God's grace and his love I know he will provide you with comfort and a sense of peace. Steve was a fun person to be with and I will always remember him because he always gave of himself and cooked the best damn home fries ever :) I have had a few problems these past few years but know that God is always in control but Steve would always comfort me and say things to me that made me feel worthy. Thanks for all your family has done for me and I will see you in heaven some day brother. God bless, Glenn

Steven was 17 years older than me so I do not have stories of jumping fences and skinning knees together as cousins growing up together,however my memories are fond and my heart hurts for his family!There has to be more research for this horrific disease that affects all our lives in such a negative way. I promise to you Steven I will donate this Christmas an equal amount to the Cancer foundation as I do to Alzheimer's. Rest in peace cousin.
