It has been such a blessing to have known Karlene and to call her friend. We had so many long talks about the Lord Jesus. Her faith, trust, and great attitude no matter what she was facing was, and always will be, such an inspiration to me. I will miss her so very much. Steve, Ava, and Eric - I have been praying for you and will continue to lift you up as you grieve this great loss.

I worked with Karlene at Bally Case & Cooler but then lost touch as we went on to raise families, etc. I reconnected with her when I joined Christ Lutheran Church, Niantic. She was such a beautiful soul gone way too soon. She fought a very long, tough fight but finally is at rest. God's blessings and peace to Steve, Ava and Eric. May he help you through this difficult time of mourning.

God has taken your hand and has a place for you above. Through life's changing seasons and for so many reasons, I'm glad you're my sister. Love Kathy Pictures are from our house in Niantic, sibling photo at Xmas time when Eric was 7 months old and a family photo during our high school years.

Karen and I were privileged to spend time with my Cuz Karlene both when she was in the hospital and then again when she first got back home. We spent time holding hands, hugging, kissing and reminiscing about our parents and when we were young. Karlene was strong as always! Our hearts go out to Steve, Ava, Eric, and our whole family. I don’t have one specific memory to share, but every single time I would see Mimi at CCS, whether it was her substituting for a class or just helping out, she always asked me how I was. And that may not sound like the biggest deal, but it was to me. When she would ask you how you are, she REALLY wanted to know. She would really listen when you answered and you always felt heard. You always felt loved in conversation with her. I’m so grateful I had the privilege to know her. I have so much love for her. To her family— there are no words that could properly express. I will be praying for peace for you all.

Pictures speak a 1000 words they say… but these pictures just say one.. LOVE. The love Karlene has for others.. especially Steve and Ava.. when looking for pictures I came across how beautiful Karlene was in this dress at my wedding 10 years ago and how adorable Ava was in her flower girl dress with matching doll!! I love you guys;)
