Obituary of Karlene A. Novotny
Please share a memory of Karlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Karlene A. Novotny, Age 61, wife of Steve Novotny, mother of Eric P. Novotny, and Ava M. Novotny, and her loving dog Bella, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 2, 2022 in Spring City, PA.
Karlene was born in Levittown, PA, the daughter of the late Carlton P. and Marian M. Moyer. Karlene is survived by her sisters Karen Smith, Kathleen Kalinowski, her brother Kerry Moyer, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Born and raised in the Boyertown area, she was a 1979 graduate from Boyertown High School and obtained a Batchelor of Applied Economics while minoring in Accounting from Ursinus College. Karlene had her own business as a tax preparer and consultant for many years. Every year Karlene anxiously looked forward to tax season so she could interface with all her satisfied repeat clients. It was always more than simply tax return appointments for Karlene. She routinely spent time asking how the kids and grandchildren were doing in school or follow up on progress of a sick parent. There were many shared photos of family vacations, stories of new pets, and countless exchanges of family accomplishments on the athletic field or on the performance stage. Karlene never hesitated to talk proudly of her loving family and would often invite us into the office to meet and greet her clients while she beamed with pride.
Additionally, Karlene volunteered many hours at Coventry Christian Schools in Pottstown, PA. She fulfilled many different functions at CCS including teacher’s aide, library and front office support, fundraising activities, and support of many music and arts performances.
She loved to be around family and spend time with her children and grandchildren whether in-person or while talking on the phone. She had an active lifestyle and enjoyed spending time at their beach house in Fenwick Island, DE. There were numerous rounds of golf played with family members and she always cherished talking about her pars. Golf was always a chance for Karlene to get four plus hours of uninterrupted time with her loving husband (which he also appreciated). Karlene will remain forever in our hearts and will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.
