Obituary of Joseph Patrick Bucelli

Joseph Patrick Bucelli, 70, Phoenixville

Joseph Bucelli, 70, passed away Wednesday August 2, 2023 in the Phoenixville Hospital after a short battle with cancer.  One of two children, Joe was born April 3, 1953 in Norristown to the late Mercedes McGuckin Bucelli and the late Felix Bucelli. An avid reader, the young Joe was very smart; they could not keep enough books in front of him. As an adult, he always had the Philadelphia Daily News under his arm.  He graduated from Norristown High School and pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Chester University.

He was a sportsman, and not only enjoyed playing sports, but watching them. While at West Chester University, Joe was the 1977 National Collegiant Boxing Champion for the 190 lbs. class and football defensive tackle.  In high school, he was named to the Norristown Area High School Hall of Champions.  Joe was the wrestling team captain; Section Champion, Outstanding Wrestler and named to the All-Area team.  In football, we was named to the All-Suburban One Team.  He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Joe was also passionate about the Beatles; often quoting John Lennon. Joe leaves behind his only sister Myk Murray and niece, Eileen Murray. He is survived by numerous cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Friday August 11 in R. Strunk Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Phoenixville. Visitation prior to the Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Friday, August 11 at R Strunk Funeral Home.
